What is fascia?

Fascia is a connective tissue that envelops and joins every muscle, cell, nerve, organ, bone and ligament in your body to one another. It is one continuous sheath from your head to your fingertips and toes . This forms an intricate and expansive communication system throughout your whole body that is fluid and harmonious when properly functioning. However, when the system is obstructed or compromised, it can result in widespread stiffness and tension.

What type of Myofascial Release is Christine trained in?
Christine is trained in the John F. Barnes method. John F. Barnes is the founder of Myofascial Release therapy and an internationally recognized physical therapist.

How does Myofascial Release compare to regular massage?
Myofascial release (MFR) involves targeted and precise movements that aim to release fascial obstructions so it may feel more slow and gentle than regular massage, wherein there is more focus on kneading the muscles. Despite this, the relaxation benefits of MFR is very apparent, if not deeper and more sustaining.

What should I wear for my session?
For women, wearing a sports bra and underwear or shorts is recommended. For men, non constrictive shorts is recommended.

How will I feel after a Myofascial Release session?
Every person has a different reaction to MFR. Some may feel immediately more energized and less pain afterwards, while some might feel more tired and need to take it easy.

Will I need more than one session?
When addressing long held issues, an initial series of treatments with frequency will prevent rebounding while encouraging resiliency and self care techniques to maintain the new harmonious space you are creating for yourself. As your body heals, you may lengthen the duration between sessions or schedule on an as needed basis.
